Tips for keeping yourself, and your money, safe

Wero is great for transferring money to and from people you know and trust. But it’s always wise to be aware of some of the ways criminals try to trick you and steal your money. Here are a few tips to keep your money safe when using Wero.

Do I know you?

Only send money to people you know and trust and be suspicious of unexpected requests – even if they seem to come from a friend. If anything doesn’t feel right, stop and think before you hand over any money.

Buying or selling online? Wise up!

Be careful when buying and selling on online marketplaces, which can be a playground for internet scammers. If in doubt, stop and review the details before completing the transaction.

Be PINtelligent

Avoid prying eyes by covering your screen if you enter your PIN in public. Pick a PIN that isn’t easy to guess and use your phone’s FaceID feature or fingerprint reader for extra security.

Free money? Yeah right.

Don’t be tempted by messages out of the blue offering easy money. Never receive money on behalf of anyone, and never, ever give your bank details to someone you‘ve only “met” online.
