Payconiq is becoming Wero.

Wero is the European payment solution backed by leading European banks. Over the coming months, Payconiq services will gradually transition to Wero in Luxembourg.<br />So what's changing, what is staying the same – and what does it mean for you?

What is Wero?

Wero is a new European digital payment solution designed for simplicity and convenience. Like Payconiq, it lets you send money and make payments directly from your bank account.
And Wero goes further, bringing together users and merchants across multiple European countries while introducing new payment services and features. It is already available in Belgium, Germany and France, with more countries joining over time.

Why is Payconiq becoming Wero?

Wero was created with the ambition to unify payments across Europe and introduce new services that reflect how people pay today and in the future. Designed for Europe, Wero is a future-ready and independent payment solution. Soon, you'll be able to use Wero in-store, online and to pay invoices.

How the transition will happen

The transition to Wero will take place in the second half of 2026 in 3 phases. You will be told by your bank when it’s time to download the Wero app, while the transition for merchants is managed by our partner Buckaroo.

  • Phase 1 Wero arrives in Luxembourg
You will start seeing and hearing more about the Wero brand in the market. During this phase, Payconiq will remain the primary brand for payments.
  • Phase 2 – Transition phase
Wero becomes the primary consumer brand in Luxembourg. The Payconiq brand and services will progressively transition to Wero.
  • Phase 3 – Full transition
Payconiq will have fully transitioned to Wero.

By the end of the year everyone will have switched to Wero and the Payconiq brand will disappear. We will keep you informed at every stage of the process.
