And Wero goes further, bringing together users and merchants across multiple European countries while introducing new payment services and features. It is already available in Belgium, Germany and France, with more countries joining over time.

How the transition will happen
The transition to Wero will take place in the second half of 2026 in 3 phases. You will be told by your bank when it’s time to download the Wero app, while the transition for merchants is managed by our partner Buckaroo.
- Phase 1 – Wero arrives in Luxembourg
You will start seeing and hearing more about the Wero brand in the market. During this phase, Payconiq will remain the primary brand for payments. - Phase 2 – Transition phase
Wero becomes the primary consumer brand in Luxembourg. The Payconiq brand and services will progressively transition to Wero. - Phase 3 – Full transition
Payconiq will have fully transitioned to Wero.
By the end of the year everyone will have switched to Wero and the Payconiq brand will disappear. We will keep you informed at every stage of the process.

For consumers
Yes. If your bank account is linked to Payconiq, it can be linked to Wero. You can link multiple accounts from participating banks to Wero, although each account must be linked to a unique phone number or email address.
Yes. You will be able to pay at participating merchants in Luxembourg. During the transition period, both Payconiq and Wero QR codes will be accepted. Over time, Payconiq QR codes will be replaced by Wero QR codes.
You will also be able to pay at participating merchants in Belgium, Germany, France and the Netherlands where Wero is accepted.There are no fees for using Wero in Luxembourg or abroad. However, you should always check with your bank regarding any fees that may apply to bank transfers or payments.
No. There is nothing you need to do right now. We will let you know when it is time to download the Wero app and complete the setup process.
Your data remains protected. The same strict security, privacy and data protection standards that apply today will continue to apply with Wero.
Yes. Wero applies the same high standards for security, compliance and data protection that you already expect from Payconiq.

To activate or manage Wero acceptance, please contact Buckaroo at wecare@buckaroo.eu. They will support you with onboarding, operational guidance and any required updates.
Yes. Payconiq-branded QR codes will gradually be replaced by Wero-branded QR codes, and there will only be a limited transition period during which both types of QR codes will be accepted.
Important: do not print new Payconiq QR codes for use after summer 2026. Updated Wero materials will be provided during the transition.
Consumers will need to download the Wero app and connect their bank account. Once activated, they will be able to pay with Wero wherever it is accepted.
The payment experience for merchants will remain simple and familiar. Buckaroo will communicate any operational or technical changes in advance.
