The two-phase transition from iDEAL to Wero will start next year and last until the end of 2027.
Phase 1: Co-Branding & Technical Switch
What’s happening
Starting beginning of 2026, the first visible change is the co-branded iDEAL | Wero logo, which will appear everywhere you and your customers interact with iDEAL. Meanwhile we’ll start setting up the new Wero infrastructure and moving iDEAL transactions to Wero. The migration tools used by iDEAL providers will enable merchants to move over to Wero step by step in a smooth, secure transition.
During this period, your iDEAL checkout won’t change.
What it means for merchants
Continue using your current PSP and setup.
Your iDEAL provider will update hosted payment pages and provide the co-branded logo, and will inform you on everything that is happening.
What it means for consumers
Same trusted bank-based payment experience.
iDEAL remains visible and familiar, with the Wero name and logo introduced gradually to maximise trust and continuity.
Your iDEAL provider will manage your migration and keep you informed about anything you need to do. They’ll also give you the new co-branded logo and explain how to use it.
Phase 2: Wero rollout
What’s happening
This is where Wero comes to life. Starting end of 2026, Wero will gradually roll out advanced features like subscriptions, event-based payments, Buy Now Pay Later, refunds, and peer-to-peer payments. The Wero logo will also begin replacing the co-branded transition logo.

Your iDEAL provider will guide you through everything.
